Waze at least knew where Hall rd was, but too the long way, whereas MQ had no idea and ended up north west on way to?????
Google and Baidu maps are both more accurate.

I contacted Distrosea about it and was told that for financial reasons they hadn’t allocated disk space for it or something like that.

Comment on Top 12 Linux Distros to Pick From in 2024 by Friar Tux https://www.maketecheasier.com/best-linux-distros/#comment-123455 Fri, 02 Feb 2024 04:36:58 +0000 https://www.maketecheasier.com/?p=208282&update=20240111#comment-123455 I have always been a Linux Mint/Cinnamon fan – for the past ten, at least. As of of this past Monday, even more so. This past November, I bought a brand spanking new laptop. The latest of the latest – thought I’d treat myself. Well, I tried to load on my favourite OS but when it was installed, I could not get WIFI working. Mint just did not want to find the WIFI. I tried a dozen or so of the other “biggies” but they were the same. PCLinuxOS was the only one nice enough to actually tell me that WIFI was not available. Ah, I believe it was a driver issue – too recent a driver – if that possible (cough, cough). This past Sunday, I read a write up on Linux Mint “Edge” and how it has the latest drivers for the latest chipsets, and guess what? I installed Mint Edge and everything works. I love it.

That’s probably more useful than the hardware version!

Comment on 7 of the Best Distros Based on Fedora Linux by James https://www.maketecheasier.com/fedora-linux-distros/#comment-123445 Mon, 29 Jan 2024 12:29:39 +0000 https://www.maketecheasier.com/?p=708047#comment-123445 There is not all that much to learn to just use Linux. I am 68, a total GUI guy and use Linux. Learning to download an .iso and burn it to a USB drive or DVD is about it.
Most Linux OS’s install themselves now day if you don’t have some fancy requirements. The system updater keep it up to date automatically. While I use and love Synaptic, software centers and boutiques make installing and removing software very easy. If you do run into problems community forums are there to help you out. Most(but not all) are very friendly places. Now if you wish to be an IT person, systems administrator or developer their is more to learn.

The one thing you need to use Linux is an open mind and willingness to encounter something new.

Are you out of your mind? Don’t you clean your computer of Internet junk daily?
Had you done so (as you should) you’d have no cookies left on your system in which case “customizing” websites would be absolutely ridiculous! :)

Start cleaning your system and forget about stupidities. Get your priorities right!

Comment on How to Get Wayland to Work on Nvidia Graphics Cards by Miguel Leiva-Gomez https://www.maketecheasier.com/wayland-work-with-nvidia-graphics-cards/#comment-123438 Fri, 26 Jan 2024 17:11:51 +0000 https://admin.maketecheasier.com/?post_type=pitch&p=607931#comment-123438 In reply to Kat.

Have you tried:

sudo dracut –regenerate-all –force

This makes Dracut generate a new initramfs for every kernel you have installed. If your Nvidia driver misbehaves after this, you may not be using the DKMS drivers. They show up as nvidia-dkms in the official repos.

No need to worry any more. AI has already made privacy obsolete.

It used to be said, tongue in eek, that Google knows more about each of us than we know about ourselves. AI has made that a truism.
